Your data is stored as ITEMS, which consist of a KEY NAME (e.g. "My dog's name") and the KEY VALUE (e.g. "Alfie").

We share data by using CONTAINERS which are a logical group of ITEMS that go together; For example, you might create a CONTAINER called "My Pets" and map your "My Dog's name" and "My Cat's name" ITEMS to that CONTAINER.

ITEMS and CONTAINERS have an ACCESS LEVEL assigned to control who can see them. There are 4 levels of access:

• HIDDEN - accessible only by you - this is the default and most secure/restricted setting
• AUDIENCE - accessible by a SPECIFIED LIST of your contacts
• AUTHENTICATED - accessible by any LOGGED IN MY8 user
• ANONYMOUS - accessible by ANYONE on the internet

Access Levels are applied to both Containers and Items and the most restrictive access level affects the visibility; If a Container is set to ANONYMOUS, it is visible to anyone on the internet. If the Items mapped to that Container are set to AUTHENTICATED, an ANONYMOUS user will see an empty Container. Only users who are MY8 users AND logged in (AUTHENTICATED) will see the Items in the Container.

You set the Access Level for the Container on the Container's detail page. You also set the Access Level for the Items that are mapped to the Container on the same page, under the details for each Item.
